The KERN Group is celebrating its 50-year anniversary this year. We’d like to thank all our partners and customers for the trust they place in us and we are excited to find out what this anniversary year has in store for us all!
The foundation for a success story was laid in 1969, when Manfred and Ruthild Birte Kern founded KERN GmbH. In founding the company, they reacted to the challenges of globalisation and internationalisation and succeeded in developing a successful concept that has proven itself time and time again ever since. The main focuses of business activities were initially in the fields of foreign language marketing and print materials, translating and interpreting. The first subsidiary was opened in 1980 in Düsseldorf. The services the company offered were then expanded into the fields of interpreting systems and foreign language training. Three years later, the first foreign subsidiary was opened in Paris - this provided the foundation for successful expansion into foreign countries. The company’s presence on the Austrian market was strengthened via the integration of Institut CEF and the takeover of translingua KG, which became KERN Austria GmbH. Today, the KERN Group has over 60 subsidiaries and is represented in Germany, China, France, Poland, Austria, the Netherlands and in the USA.
The range of services has been expanded upon continuously in the previous years, which had led to the KERN Group being able to establish itself on the global market as an international full-service provider in the field of foreign-language communication.
We are on hand to use our many years of experience to help our customers and partners with anything they require from the following fields: translating and interpreting in all world languages, terminology and translation memory management, transcription, proofreading, technical editing, localisation of software and websites, rendering and subtitling as well as multi-lingual desktop publishing including the creation of foreign-language printed products.
Since 2005, we have also been offering our customers from various industries language training for specialists and managers, customer-specific seminars, workshops, coaching and inter-cultural training nationwide.
In the last few decades, the challenges of increasing globalisation have allowed us to grow along with our partners and customers and we are delighted at the trust that they have placed in us. We are constantly working on expanding upon and improving our portfolio in order to provide you with the best possible support; constant change is a part of our company’s culture!
We view the use of modern technology in both the training and translation/interpretation fields to be of particular importance to us. This needs to be the case to enable us to keep up with the pace of digitalisation and to enable us to always provide the best possible services to our customers. But when doing so, we never lose sight of the individual wishes of our customers.
What's more, it is important for us to personally look after our customers on-site and we also view it to be especially important for us to establish ourselves further on the international stage. For this reason, we are currently planning to establish new subsidiaries all over the world.
