With foreign language subtitles, the text shown reproduces the spoken language so that the content can be understood in full. At the same time, viewers need to be able to follow the film, which means that the content of subtitles is restricted. Sensitivity and cultural awareness are vital to producing accurate subtitles for the target audience.
