KERN employs state-of-the-art tools and techniques to localise user interfaces with menus, dialogue boxes and push buttons, together with online help and printed documents for use in the target country. Additional files, such as “Readme” files or licence agreements, as well as advertising and packaging materials, will all be coordinated by us in accordance with the requirements of the target market.
In our experience, the way to achieve the best software localisation results is to firstly localise the user interface and then choose layouts that fit the specific needs and qualities of the particular language.
As the length of a text can vary significantly from language to language, KERN can adjust elements such as menu buttons and data fields to fit the localised text (also known as “resizing“).
The localised user interface then serves as a reference for the translation of the online help and documentation – which is ideally carried out by the same team that localised the interface.
KERN reviews the localised software according to the following quality-assurance criteria
- Consistency of language and technical content
- User interface and menu comprehensibility
- Online help
- Documentation
- Overall functionality of the localised software
We use the following localisation tools:
- Catalyst
- Passolo
- Visual Localize
